2026 Thurston Green Business applications open through Feb. 28

Applications for Thurston County businesses to become a 2026 Thurston County Green Business are now open, according to a recent news release.

“Saving water, conserving energy, reducing waste and buying or selling green are all sustainable steps that improve the community’s and environment’s health. Businesses that take these steps to lower their environmental footprint find that they save money while protecting and preserving resources,” the release stated.

In Thurston County, businesses that take one or all of these stewardship steps receive recognition for their efforts when they become a Thurston Green Business.

Thurston Green Businesses are listed in the directory on the county’s Shop Green page and receive a window cling to display at their business and business logo to display on their website and marketing material.

Thurston Green Businesses are also  recognized at the annual Thurston Green Business Forum in April, where they have an opportunity to take part in an expo.

Businesses can apply for recognition in one or more categories:

  • Buying & Selling Green
  • Energy Efficiency
  • Green Products and Services
  • Transportation & Commute Trip Reduction
  • Waste Reduction & Recycling
  • Water Conservation

The application is free, and is open through Feb. 28.

Applicants will be notified within a week of when their application was submitted.
