Lawmakers from Washington state’s 35th Legislative District are set to host an early morning online town hall next week to discuss the state’s 2026 legislative session.

Republican legislators Sen. Drew MacEwen, R-Shelton, and Reps. Dan Griffey, R-Allyn, and Travis Couture, R-Allyn, will host a 6:25 a.m. virtual town hall on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

An announcement from the lawmakers’ staff states the event will serve to update constituents and hear questions from those back home in the 35th District, which covers all of Mason County and includes parts of Kitsap and Thurston counties.

“Whether it’s blocking new taxes, pushing for safer communities, or standing up for parents and students, public input matters,” Couture said in the announcement of the upcoming town hall. “We want to hear what’s on people’s minds and make sure their voices are part of the debate.”

According to the same announcement, potential tax increases, citizen initiatives, public safety, education and cost of living are all likely subjects for discussion during the upcoming town hall. The update is also well-timed as a check-in for the session coming just after the halfway mark for the 60-day short legislative session.

“Too many big decisions are being rushed through Olympia that could worsen our affordability crisis, make our communities less safe, and hurt local businesses,” MacEwen said. “This town hall is about making sure folks in the 35th District know what’s happening and have a direct line to us while there’s still time to speak up.”

Griffey said in the announcement that he and the 35th District delegation are looking for regular feedback from their constituents and community members to help guide them through the legislative session.

“We need constant feedback from our communities to keep us grounded in reality, not just what’s being pushed by the majority in Olympia,” he said. “These conversations help us stand up for our communities as we work to find real solutions that actually work for our district.”

The Feb. 18 town hall is only accessible virtually. Constituents who wish to attend should register for the meeting ahead of time. To do so, visit https://tinyurl.com/2tj886jc and enter your name and a good email address.

Those who register will receive a reminder email with a link to the town hall’s online Zoom meeting room to join and participate.
