Adna’s Trevin Salme and Rainier’s Lily Peralta both successfully defended their district titles on Thursday, as they both repeated as district champions in the 2B Boys and 1B/2B Girls District 4 Championship match at the Mint Valley Golf Course in Longview.

Salme won by 14 strokes, shooting an 11-over 153 across the two-day tournament, while Peralta shot a 12-over 154 to win by 16 strokes for the second year in a row.

As district champions, both Salme and Peralta qualify for the state tournament. Salme will be attempting to repeat as a state champion, while Peralta will look to be in the mix for a title of her own again after finishing in a tie for second.

With Salme leading the way, both the Adna boys and Rainier girls teams claimed the team district crowns.

Joining Salme on the boys side is Rainier’s Joshua Peralta (173), Adna’s Brodey Luurs (180), and Adna’s Preston Cardin (183), who finished in third, fourth, and fifth, respectively to also earn state spots.

Ilwaco’s Diego Hernandez finished in second at 168.

Just missing out on a top-five finish and a state berth was Adna’s Alex Smith (186) and Rainier’s Thomas Sprouffske (191), who finished sixth and seventh.

On the girls’ side, four other local golfers also earned a state berth by finishing in the top 11.

Adna’s Kalli Christen (219) was the next-highest finisher at sixth, and fellow Pirate Lilly Naillon (230) placed ninth.

Rainier’s Kyla Capen (235) finished in tenth, and Willapa Valley’s Kylee Fluke (225) ended the afternoon in eighth.

Just missing state nods were Rainier’s Madison McCoshum (239), Adna’s Layla St. Catherine (243), and Adna’s Gracey Garza (244), who placed 12th, 13th, and 14th.

The 1B/2B State Golf Tournament is set for May 19 and 20 at the Liberty Lake Golf Course in Liberty Lake.
