W.F. West picked up a pair of EvCo victories on Wednesday, taking both ends of a doubleheader against Black Hills 20-1 and 7-2.

Black Hills got on the board first in Game 1 with an RBI single from Asher Strauss, and that scoreline held into the second.

The Bearcats proceeded to put up three crooked numbers in a row, though, scoring six in the second and seven in both the third and fourth to blow the game open.

Connor Coleman hit two doubles, drove in three runs, and scored twice, while Wyatt Hoffman added two hits, drove in two runs, drew three walks, and scored three runs.

Five other Bearcats recorded an RBI, and seven others crossed the plate.

Hayden Rooney pitched the first four innings, allowing just one hit and an unearned run while striking out three, and Gage Wiens pitched a perfect fifth to seal the win.

Wiens also got the start in Game 2, allowing three hits and a pair of unearned runs while striking out five across five and a third. Hudson McCallum pitched the final inning and two-thirds, striking out three while allowing just one hit.

Coleman added a triple and two RBIs in the nightcap, while Alex Stafford added another two RBI. Alex Stafford also picked up a hit and drove in a pair of his own.

Jake Tinsley led the Black Hills offense in Game 2, picking up two hits and scoring a run.

Black Hills (2-7, 0-5 2A EvCo) will head to Shelton on Friday, while W.F. West (10-1, 5-0 2A EvCo) will head to Tumwater on the same afternoon for a clash between the league’s last two unbeaten teams.
