Beavers’ chance at postseason play ends in loss to Grizzlies

Despite entering Friday night with a goose egg in the Evergreen League win column, the Tenino High School boys basketball team had a sliver of hope to get into the district tournament. Those dreams were dashed with a 76-52 loss to Hoquiam on the road.

It officially eliminates the Beavers (3-16, 0-7 Evergreen) from being in the pigtail game. They can still play spoiler for their arch rival, Rochester, and pick up a league win on Wednesday night at home.

Tenino was down 27-7 after the first quarter and the margin continued to grow from there. It won the fourth quarter by a nine-point margin and was able to get 11 players into the game. Sawyer Noonan led the Beavers with 11 points and seven rebounds while Brayden Bennett added 10 points
