Beavers clip Blazers in final non-league contest

A first half barrage of baskets was more than enough to allow the Tenino High School girls basketball team to leave Seattle with a 48-36 victory over The Bush School on Tuesday night.

It’s the fifth win of the season for Tenino (5-12), matching last year’s win total with four games left in the regular season. It tallied 37 points in the first two quarters and withstood a small Blazers rally in the fourth to hold on.

Kylie Gonia and Charley Jones each scored 12 points for the Beavers while Georgia Gore snared a team-high nine rebounds. Kyla Watson registered seven points on the night. They take on Montesano on Thursday on the road.

“The girls played well,” Tenino head coach Kirsi Gofinch said. “We got the chance to work on a few things and try some different lineups.”
