The Tenino volleyball team did not play up to its standard in the first set in Rochester on Tuesday night, but the Beavers settled in and eventually pulled away for a 19-25, 25-17, 26-24, 25-10 four-set win.

“We struggled to find our center tonight and let it get away from us,” Tenino coach Shauna Carpenter said. “But we changed a few things and regrouped.”

Katen Burkhardt led the effort with 15 kills, 10 digs, two assists, and a block while going 10 for 11 at the service line, while Abby Smith finished with 14 assists, eight digs, and two kills while going 13 for 14 serving.

Peyton Songer collected seven digs and three aces without missing one of her 23 service attempts, and Sequoia Zimmer dished out 20 assists to go along with her three digs, one kill, one ace, and her 16 for 17 mark at the line.

Kendall Bowe added nine kills, two digs, and a block, Violet Zimmer ended her evening with 12 digs, eight kills, and a pair of aces, and Brooklyn Livermore finished with five digs, four blocks, two kills, two aces, and an 11 for 13 mark serving.

Tenino (8-5, 4-1 1A Evergreen) has now won five games in a row, and the Beavers will look to avenge a five-set loss to Hoquiam earlier this season at home on Thursday.

Rochester (3-11, 1-5 1A Evergreen) will head to Montesano the same night.
