Black Hills hosted Rochester on Monday ahead of its postseason opener, and the Wolves earned an 8-1 victory on their home diamond.
The Wolves took control early, scoring three runs in the first and once in both the second and third before adding three more in the fourth.
Maddie Knight led the offensive charge with two hits, including a double, and she drove in two runs. Ava Wright and Emma Arko also collected two hits apiece, and Hannah O’Shurak added a hit and two RBIs of her own.
Wright, Lily Shipe, Tyler Venable, and Haley McMahon added an RBI each.
Knight also pitched all seven innings, allowing just four hits and an unearned run while walking one and striking out ten.
Charlie Culp, Addi Morgan, Rylie Wild, and Jayden Evans picked up Rochester’s four hits, and Arissa LeBaron drove in Morgan to pick up the team’s lone RBI.
Rochester finishes its season 3-17 and will graduate two seniors, Morgan and Madoleen Goddard-Boyd.
Black Hills (4-15) will head south on Tuesday, when it faces No. 5 R.A. Long in a district pigtail. The winner will get top-seeded Mark Morris in a quarterfinal.
