Black Hills found itself down four in the fourth of its season opener against Hoquiam on Monday, but the Wolves rallied back to tie the game and eventually walk-off the Grizzlies in the eighth in a 9-8 victory.
Black Hills got on the board first with a pair of runs in the opening frame, but Hoquiam responded with seven runs over the next three innings to take a 7-3 lead.
The Wolves immediately responded with four runs of their own in the fourth to tie the game. The Grizzlies retook the lead with a run in the sixth, but Black Hills tied the game in the bottom of the seventh to force extras. Brody Rice capped that extra frame with a walk-off single to left.
Rice finished the day 3 for 5 with four runs batted in, while Lincoln Brannin went 2 for 3 with an RBI of his own.
Asher Strauss picked up the win on the bump, pitching three hitless innings with six strikeouts out of the pen.
Black Hills (1-0) will head to Hockinson on Wednesday.
