Two early goals were all North Thurston and Black Hills could muster in Tumwater Thursday night as the Rams and Wolves played to a 1-1 draw.
Black Hills opened the scoring in the 17th minute on a header from a long throw. Just four minutes later, North Thurston responded with crisp passing from Elaina Brannon to Londyn McKenzie, who cut back in the box and set up Lilly Bonnin with a goal from 12 yards out.
Black Hills narrowly outshot North Thurston 11-10.
“I’m proud of our ladies and how hard they battled today. Black Hills gave us a good challenge, and we stepped up and fought really hard,” North Thurston coach Tristan Glaser said. “I thought everyone who played in the defense tonight deserves a shoutout. Quincie Henderson was really good in net, as well.”
North Thurston (2-1-1) will begin Puget Sound League play Tuesday night at home against Bellarmine, while Black Hills (2-2-2) will kick off EvCo play Thursday, Sept. 24 at home against W.F. West.
