The Capital baseball team’s offense is still looking for a spark four games into the season, as the Cougars dropped a road contest to Silas 9-1 Saturday at Hunt Middle School in Tacoma.

For the second game in a row, Capital registered only one hit, and its solo run against the Rams came in the fifth after Xavier Green’s single, a walk and a hit batter. Easton Bramble scored on a wild pitch.

Silas scored three in the first inning with a single, an infield error by Capital and a balk by starting pitcher Brooks Barker. Another error scored a run in the third for Silas, and the Rams piled on with two runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth, highlighted by a two-run home run by Urijah Johnson.

Barker pitched 3.1 innings and struck out five batters while allowing six runs, four of them earned, on three hits and five walks. Hayden Deskus pitched 2.2 innings out of the pen and gave up three runs on four hits, fanning two and walking one.

Capital (0-4, 0-2 Puget Sound League) will look to earn its first win Monday at home against North Thurston (2-1, 1-1 Puget Sound League).
