The Capital girls soccer team routed Black Hills 4-1 Thursday night behind four goals from four different players. Capital earned its first win of the 2026 campaign.
Black Hills posted the first goal in the 10th minute, but it was all Cougars after that. Freshman Isla Swardz scored in the 24th minute, and senior Pippin Crump tallied the go-ahead goal just before halftime in the 39th minute.
Annie Flynn, off an assist from Kendyl Gritton, extended the Cougars’ lead right out of halftime with a goal in the 43rd minute. Alana English added an insurance goal in the 69th minute.
Luna Manzanares recorded a shutout in the net in the second half, while Eliza Gantenbein made several crucial saves in the first half.
“The team continued to make great progress as they found their rhythm and built strong connections within their units and as a team,” Capital head coach Adriana Montes said. “Overall, this team is showing tremendous progress, confidence, and chemistry as they continue to find their footing.”
Black Hills (1-1-1) will face Hockinson in its home opener Saturday afternoon, while Capital (1-2) will visit Shelton Tuesday, Sept. 15.
