The Capital boys soccer team suffered its first loss of the season at the hands of the Silas Rams 3-0 at Swarthout Field Thursday night.
The Cougars fell into a hole in the first half, allowing three goals before halftime. Capital held Silas scoreless in the second half, and a goal for the Cougars was wiped away due to an offside ruling.
“We played well overall, but Silas identified and exploited the same weakness a few times,” Capital head coach Jeremy Richtmyre said. “I’m proud of the response in the second half. It would’ve been easy to fold and give up more in the second half. But we battled and didn’t quit right until the end.”
Junior goalkeeper Finnegan Landon recorded six saves in the loss.
Capital (2-1-1) returns to action Tuesday night at Lincoln.
