Capital’s 200 medley relay team qualifies for districts in loss to Central Kitsap

Capital High School’s 200-yard medley relay team of Masha Olson, Brooke Machut, Tessa Nielsen and Amanda Tang punched its ticket to the district championships during a girls swimming meet at Central Kitsap Thursday afternoon.

The quartet finished second in the event at a time of 2:30.84. 

Capital lost the meet to Central Kitsap by a score of 103-37. 



Tang won the 1-meter dive with a final score of 107.05. Nielsen took second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:23.78 and finished third in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:51.05.

Other standouts from the meet include Olson, who came in third in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:32.34 and third in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:11.95. Julia Oestreich finished in fourth in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:15.31 and third in the 50-yard freestyle at 33.49.

Capital’s next meet is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 15 at home against Timberline.
