Capital’s Jae Walz cruises to first place in Puget Sound League meet

Capital senior cross country runner Jae Walz picked up a victory on his home course Wednesday, Sept. 30 in a Puget Sound League meet with Capital and Lincoln.

Walz finished with a time of 17 minutes, 45 seconds — 15 seconds faster than runner-up Brad Crossen’s 18:00.1 from Capital. Their teammate Abram Montermini placed third at 18:01.82, and Timberline senior Enoch Augur earned a fourth-place finish at 18:22.3.



Capital senior Bella Lang was the area’s top finisher in the girls race, crossing the finish line in second place at 24:10.2. It was an epic race for third place, as Cougars junior Avey Garner (24:39.3) outlasted Timberline freshman Kalea Rahal-Cochran (24:39.5) and Capital freshman Emma Lamont (24:39.6). 

Capital’s next meet is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3 at the HOKA 30th annual John Payne XC Invite at Chambers Creek, while Timberline will compete in the Oaksridge Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 10.
