Capitol Little League 10U Softball All-Stars capture district title in first postseason

Posted

In their first ever postseason in history, Capitol Little League’s 10-and-under Softball All-Stars program has already made a statement. The team captured the district title, dominating the competition by outscoring opponents 49-2, and now advances to the state tournament as one of the final 11 teams battling it out in Seattle for the championship.

Much of the team’s success stems from a pitching trio that threw a combined shutout in their 10-0 district championship game win over Larch Mountain. The pitching staff consists of Jiana DeGuzman, a 10-year-old right-handed pitcher described by coaches as a “hard-throwing righty gunslinger,” Evelyn Earnest, who “attacks hitters with precision as a crafty southpaw who paints the zone and has a career total of 200 strikeouts,” and Makenna Tajalle, who “serves as the shutdown closer who loves slamming the door on opposing offenses.”

The team roster is as follows: Evelyn Earnest, Andrielle Bradford, Araya Hicks, Claire Kirkwood, Emilia Stricklett, Evangeline Sureau, Freyja Thomte, Genevieve Young, Jiana DeGuzman, Makenna Tajalle, Natalie Nuzz, Paige Frans, and Sierra Ayers. The coaching staff is made up of Amanda Earnest, Chris Stricklett and Stephen Sureau.
