Despite exchanging zeroes through three innings, the Wolves never got the spark offensively and the Hawks did, putting the latter on the way to a 10-0, five-inning win at home over the former.
Back-to-back leadoff walks in the bottom of the fourth put the Hawks in prime position. An RBI groundout, a wild pitch, a defensive interference call and a run-scoring single capped a four-run frame. Their first eight batters reached in the fifth to end the game early with a six-spot.
Jake Tinsley had the lone hit for Black Hills (1-1) while Joel Beldo struck out three in over three innings of work on the mound. The Wolves will take on 4A Yelm at home on Friday night.
