The Capital boys tennis team only saw one set loss from its three doubles teams in a 5-0 win against Capital Thursday, Oct. 1.
Torin Biswas and Brooks Bezanson of Capital breezed past Nhat Lee and Dustin Dye of Timberline in first doubles 6-0, 6-0. The third doubles match between Capital’s Nicky Iannuccilli and Trevor Nichols and Timberline’s Wesley Emge and Peter Crain also concluded with the same score in favor of the Cougars.
Logan Oestreich and Stephen Belgau of Capital defeated Timberline’s Cruz Rosado and Noah Mazucca 6-0, 6-1.
Capital’s top singles player Camden Marshall and Timberline’s Jaden Clark had the closest match of the afternoon, with Marshall prevailing 6-4, 6-1. Eli Horton knocked off Jameson Quantrall 6-2, 6-3 in second singles.
“Camden Marshall is making steady progress in his singles play,” Capital head coach Tom Alongi said. “He is really growing as a player and learning what to do and when. He’s a coachable guy who listens and works to get better.”
Capital returns home Friday, Oct. 2 to face Lincoln in a game that was rescheduled due to inclement weather. Timberline is set to visit River Ridge on Monday, Oct. 5.
