A quick start and a balanced offensive attack helped Adna come away with a convincing victory at home on Wednesday, when the Pirates topped Rainier 76-51.
Adna came out of the gate firing on all cylinders, quickly building a 21-5 lead in the opening frame.
“Really pleased with our defensive intensity and focus to start the game,” Adna coach Luke Salme said.
Rainier got going offensively in the second quarter, hitting three three-pointers, but the Adna offense continued to roll throughout.
Trevin Salme finished with a team-high 24 points and 10 assists, while Landen Cline scored 19 points, Jackson Knittle logged 18, and Grayson Humphrey tallied 11 to go along with six steals.
“When we get four guys into double digits like tonight, I like our chances,” Luke Salme said.
Peyton Sheaffer had an outstanding night for Rainier, finishing with a game-high 28 points, 20 of which came in the middle two frames.
“Peyton Sheaffer was a handful for us,” Luke Salme said. “We never did really stop him, but he’s a heck of a player, so sometimes you just tip your cap.”
Both teams will hit the road on Friday. Adna (13-2, 11-0 C2BL) will look to remain undefeated in league play in Onalaska, while Rainier (8-7, 6-6 C2BL) will head to Napavine.
