Tony Frohlich-Fair surpassed 30 points for the fourth time this season, and Bradley Graham matched a career-high with 22 points, but The Evergreen State College men’s basketball team lost to Oregon Tech 88-83 Saturday night.
The Geoducks jumped out to a double-digit lead midway through the first half, leading the Owls 28-15 with eight minutes and 50 seconds left. Evergreen at one point held a 16-point advantage before Oregon Tech’s 17-4 run cut the margin to four. The Geoducks scored the last six points of the half to bump the lead back to 10 at halftime.
Frohlich-Fair had 20 points on 9 of 15 shooting at halftime, while the Geoducks as a team shot just under 49% from the field in the first 20 minutes.
The script flipped in the second half for the Geoducks. Oregon Tech’s offense found some life to chip away, but Graham often responded to keep Evergreen up by multiple possessions.
Halfway through the second half, the Owls erupted for 15 straight points, including three straight 3-pointers, to flip a six-point deficit into a nine-point lead. The efforts of Frohlich-Fair and Graham, who combined to score 28 of Evergreen’s 38 second-half points, fell short.
Kenzel Massey added 10 points, Zach Jefferson scored eight, and Kohrey Bridges and Jacob Laff each provided five.
Evergreen (3-11, 3-9 Cascade Collegiate Conference) will host Corban University Friday night. The Geoducks defeated Corban 104-96 in an overtime thriller on the road on Jan. 3.
