The North Thurston boys soccer team wrapped up the regular season with a 3-2 road victory at Lakes Thursday night, clinching the Rams’ fourth consecutive victory.
North Thurston fell behind early as Lakes scored in the 12th minute, but freshman Rayan Moustafa tied the game on a breakaway goal from a through-ball assist from Easton Sexton.
Rams senior Eli Taylor opened the second half by breaking the 1-1 tie, rebounding a Gio Ramirez shot off the crossbar and tapping the ball into the back of the net in the 48th minute.
Lakes answered two minutes later, and Ramirez, a freshman, received a long diagonal ball from Victor Nguyen and finished high at the near post to give the Rams a 3-2 lead in the 58th minute.
“Great resilience today by the guys to fight and get a result with a few injuries to key players. It was nice to see Gio step up as a freshman and play a key role,” North Thurston coach Tristan Glazer said. “He worked hard defensively and created many opportunities for us.”
North Thurston finishes the regular season with a 10-2-5 record and a 7-1-2 mark in the Puget Sound League, ranking second in the Nisqually Division behind Capital. The Rams have won 10 games in back-to-back seasons and have qualified for the District 3 3A Tournament.
“There are some things we are still learning about our group that we will look to improve upon as we head into the district tournament, but heading into that with a win feels good,” Glazer said.
