On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the office of U.S. Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, D-Skamania, will host an information night for students interested in applying to the service academies.

The event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Columbia Room at the Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St., Vancouver, a news release from Gluesenkamp Perez announced.

The information night will have two parts: presentations and an open house.

During the presentation, each service academy will give a brief presentation on their academy and their applications processes.

A staff member from the congresswoman’s office will also give a presentation on the process for receiving a congressional nomination from Gluesenkamp Perez.

Following this, attendees will be free to meet with service academy representatives.

High school juniors, or anyone 17 to 22 years old who lives in Washington’s Third Congressional District, are able to apply for a service academy nomination from Gluesenkamp Perez through her website at https://tinyurl.com/3ev68fv3.

The deadline for 2027 service academy nomination requests is Sunday, Nov. 15.

“Every year, I’m impressed by the incredible students from across Southwest Washington who step up to serve their country and our community.” Gluesenkamp Perez said in the release. “I’m hosting this information session to support the next generation of young leaders as they apply to our nation’s military service academies. ”
