The Timberline softball team only needed five innings to collect a whopping 25 runs in a shutout win over Silas in its season opener Monday.
Timberline scored seven in the first inning, nine in the second, four in both the third and fourth, and one in the fifth to put up the most runs the program has seen in a game since April 13, 2021.
Junior Nevaeh Haagen was lights out both at the plate and in the circle. She threw all five innings, allowing just three hits while striking out 12 batters. She also recorded six runs batted in off of an RBI single in the first, a three-run, inside-the-park home run in the second inning, and two bases-loaded walks.
Sophomore Porsha Miller also shined with a 4-for-4 day, four RBIs, three runs and a triple. Junior Leovi Meno-Meyers and junior Kayleese Dorfner added three-hit days, with Meno-Meyers driving in four runs and Dorfner bringing two home. Five batters had multiple hits, four walked at least twice, and eight scored at least two runs.
Timberline (1-0, 1-0 Puget Sound League-Nisqually) will host Mount Tahoma on Wednesday.
