History talk in Tumwater to discuss 'mystery' of O.C. Lacey

Posted

History talks continue at the Schmidt House, with March’s talk scheduled for noon on March 5.

The free hour-long talk is titled “Who Was O.C. Lacey? A Century-Old Mystery Solved!”

Although not Lacey’s founder, O.C. Lacey has been a mysterious historical figure for over a century.

After becoming a prominent figure in Olympia and leaving his name on the Lacey post office, he left town after a public scandal in 1895 and was never heard from again.

Although research has uncovered where he went after leaving Washington, no one has ever discovered where he came from — until now, according to a news release from the Schmidt House.

The Lacey Museum Curator Erin Quinn Valcho will reveal the mysterious past of O.C. Lacey.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Seating will be first-come, first-served until room capacity is reached.

The Schmidt House is located at 330 Schmidt Place SW, Tumwater.
