An hour-long rain delay couldn’t slow down the Northwest Christian offense against Concrete Friday night at Tenino’s Beaver Stadium as the Wolverines prevailed 64-6.

The Wolverines jumped in front 8-0 in the first quarter before the storm rolled in. When action resumed, Northwest Christian took a 16-0 lead and then gave up an 80-yard kickoff return touchdown just before the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Wolverines pummeled the Lions with 34 unanswered points to enter the locker room up 50-6. Northwest Christian added eight points in the third quarter and six in the fourth.

Running back Jacob Kearns exploded for five rushing touchdowns and 173 yards on 17 carries, while quarterback Sully Snyder and Andrew Graves each added a rushing score. Snyder completed all six of his pass attempts for 102 yards and two touchdown passes, one to Koa Paresa and the other to Spence Coleman.

On defense, Paresa recorded an interception and a fumble recovery, and Ronnie Vahey was responsible for a sack and two tackles for loss. Graves also picked off a pass, and Uriah Foster had one sack.

“[Offensive coordinator] Robb Jimenez had his offense rolling tonight. Behind a big game from Jacob, he was able to sprinkle the rock around to multiple kids on offense,” Northwest Christian head coach Chris Pontius said. “The offense went on cruise control, and our defense, led by coach Tommy Adger, became extremely stingy.”

Northwest Christian only had 12 players available but still racked up 64 points on the scoreboard. The Wolverines (1-0) will visit Muckleshoot Tribal School next Friday at 4 p.m.
