Jacob Smith House nominated for Lacey Register of Historic Properties

Posted

The City of Lacey Historical Commission will consider the nomination of the Jacob Smith House to the Lacey Register of Historic Places at its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, at Lacey City Hall, Council Chambers, 420 College St. SE.

The public may attend to comment on the nomination.

The Jacob Smith House, owned by the City of Lacey, is located at 4500 Intelco Loop SE and has appeared on the Washington Heritage Register since 1988.

Built in 1859, the Jacob Smith House stands as the oldest house in Lacey and one of the oldest in Thurston County. It exemplifies the architecture that pioneer settlers built in the region, featuring Greek Revival elements, and remains one of the few surviving examples of its style, according to a news release from the city of Lacey.

The property retains its original form and setting, conveying the character of pioneer-era homesteads.

Anyone can nominate a property for inclusion on the Lacey Register of Historic Places with the property owner’s consent. The nomination process is guided by Lacey Municipal Code 16.53.030.
