Northwest Christian running back Jacob Kearns went nuclear for the second game in a row, recording 310 rushing yards and six touchdowns on just 15 carries in the Wolverines’ 68-20 blowout of Muckleshoot Tribal School Friday night.
The junior tailback is already up to 11 rushing touchdowns and 483 yards. He’s carried the ball just 32 times, giving him a whopping 15 yards per carry.
On defense, Luke Nickel had a hand in two turnovers: an interception and a fumble recovery, while Sully Snyder recorded a 25-yard interception return for a touchdown. Jadon Dillingham returned a kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown.
“I thought both sides of the ball played solid tonight. Offensively, we got off to a fast start with offensive coordinator Robb Jimenez going to the passing game early before getting the running game going,” Northwest Christian head coach Chris Pontius said. “The defense had a tough assignment tonight against Muckleshoot’s passing offense, but I thought they showed good discipline and created multiple turnovers.”
Northwest Christian (2-0) will host Lummi Nation Friday, Sept. 18 at Tenino’s Beaver Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m.
