The Timberline volleyball team bounced back from a first-set loss at Prairie Tuesday night and rallied for a backdoor sweep to remain undefeated.
Timberline fell 25-23 in the first set, its first set defeat so far this season, before dominating the second set 25-13. The Blazers continued to roll throughout the night with a 25-20 third-set victory and a 25-16 fourth-set triumph against a Prairie team that advanced to the 3A state semifinals last fall.
“Prairie was our toughest battle yet but what we needed as we look to face off against Central Kitsap Thursday night,” Timberline head coach Matt Monnastes said. “We knew Prairie was going to be tough, and after dropping the first set, we had to remind ourselves that we can do hard things. I loved our response.”
Senior Kinley Smith went off with 26 kills and 14 digs, while Leia Dela Cruz posted 28 assists, six kills and two aces. Miya Jackson tallied 12 kills, nine digs and three aces. Lilly Grant added nine kills, four blocks and an ace, while Jovie Lind shined on defense with 33 digs.
Timberline (3-0) will host Central Kitsap in a Puget Sound League showdown Thursday night.
