The City of Lacey invites the community to celebrate the grand opening of the revamped Lacey Museum on Saturday, June 13.

The free public event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at  4160 6th Avenue Southeast, Suite 101, in Lacey.

Community members are invited to explore the Lacey Museum’s new space, discover Lacey’s rich history, and enjoy family-friendly activities, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony, opening remarks, crafts, a magician, live music and more.

“The Lacey Museum is a place where community stories come to life,” said Erin Quinn Valcho, museum curator. ”We are excited to welcome the public into this new space and celebrate the history, people, and experiences that have shaped Lacey.”

The Lacey Museum held a soft reopening in January after a year-long move from the historic Russell House on Lacey Street Southeast, where the museum was founded in 1981.

The Lacey Museum still uses the Russell House as a by-appointment research center, but the museum proper is now located in Suite 101 at 4160 Sixth Avenue Southeast.

The move to the new space allowed the Lacey Museum to update its exhibits and panels to be more user-friendly and feature more artifacts from Lacey’s history.

Museum visitors can also shop at the museum store, which offers exclusive Lacey merchandise, unique gifts, keepsakes, and commemorative items inspired by Lacey’s history and heritage.
