Jude Leitch impressed on the bump against Charles Wright Academy on Monday, but Tenino couldn’t get anything going offensively and lost 2-0 at home to the reigning 1A semifinalists.
Leitch pitched the first five innings, allowing four hits and two runs (one earned) while walking three and striking out four.
“Jude pitched a hell of a game,” Tenino coach Ryan Schlesser said.
Sawyer Noonan pitched the final two innings, giving up zero hits while walking one and striking out two.
Unfortunately for Leitch and Noonan, the Tenino offense couldn’t come through in the bottom of the seventh. The Beavers had the bases loaded and one out, but back-to-back strikeouts stranded all three runners and ended the game.
“We played a lot better today,” Schlesser said. “We’re just still waiting on that big hit. We gotta compete more at the plate.”
Brayden Bennett went 2 for 3 at the plate, Easton Miller added a hit, and five other Beavers drew walks to reach base.
The Beavers (1-4, 0-3 1A Evergreen) will have another tough test on Thursday, when they’ll travel to face La Center, the 2025 1A runner-up.
