Lewis County Transit will launch fall route changes September 14

Posted

Lewis County Transit will implement a set of route updates beginning Sept. 14 based on ridership and operational data, as well as rider feedback, a news release from Lewis County Transit announced.

Fixed routes are updated biannually, in March and September, to continuously optimize operations and rider experience.  Lewis County Transit will remain fare-free on all fixed routes.

Key changes include:

• Increased Green Route Frequency & Lacey Express: Stops in downtown Olympia have been removed from the Green Route, and the bus will run on an hourly loop instead of every two hours. Riders will be able to connect with Intercity Transit from Centralia within 25 minutes.

• New Lacey Express: The Lacey Express will serve gaps left by changes to the Green Route. This will also extend Lewis County Transit’s services further north.

• Local Stop Changes: Winco will now be serviced by the Red and Orange Routes. Some stops along Orange and Blue have been shifted or removed for increased efficiency.

Changes to the Green Route, along with introduction of the Lacey Express, will increase weekly connections to Intercity Transit by over 60% and will provide riders with a more efficient way into Pierce County, the release stated.
