Lewis leads SPSCC past Peninsula on New Year's Eve

South Puget Sound Community College closed the year with a convincing win over Peninsula College, going up early and never looking back in an 83–60 NWAC men’s basketball matchup on Tuesday.

The Clippers built momentum quickly and used balanced scoring, efficient shooting and steady defensive pressure to control the game from start to finish. SPSCC led after the opening stretch and steadily extended its advantage as the game wore on.

Jeremiah Lewis led all scorers with 23 points, while also pulling down eight rebounds. Elijah “Jack” Mack filled up the stat sheet with 17 points, nine assists and six rebounds, directing the Clippers offense. Nakalayah Fabello added 13 points, while Jalen Hyppa chipped in 11 points off the bench.

South Puget Sound shot better than 53 percent from the field and recorded 20 assists on 36 made baskets. The Clippers also won the rebounding battle 37-29 and limited mistakes, committing just 13 turnovers.




Peninsula was paced by Patrick Odingo, who scored 19 points, with Cinco McNeal adding 15 in the loss.

South Puget Sound Community College improved to 10-4 on the season while Peninsula dropped to 1-12.
