Sydney Potvin and Izzy Falling each hit a home run, Mariah Martin drove in four runs on three hits, and the Olympia softball team dominated Spanaway Lake 14-1 Monday.
After two singles to start the first inning by Ashlynn Carey and Mariah Martin, the latter scoring a run, Potvin cranked a two-run bomb to left center field for her third homer of the season. The Bears tacked on two more runs to jump out to a 5-0 advantage through one inning.
In her second at bat, Martin found the gap between the shortstop and the second baseman to bring home two runs in the second inning.
Spanaway Lake scored its only run of the day in the second inning before Olympia doubled its scoring total with seven runs in the fourth. Nia Huckaby and Martin picked up an RBI apiece in the inning, and Falling blasted a moon ball over the left field fence for her first homer of the season.
Sydnee Chandler-Trent pitched a complete game, striking out five batters over five innings of one-run ball and allowing five hits and four walks.
Olympia (5-8, 5-5 South Puget Sound League) has a loaded schedule this week, with a game scheduled for each of the next four days. The Bears hit the road Tuesday to face Rogers (11-3, 10-1 SPSL) in Puyallup before three straight home games against Yelm (6-7, 5-6 SPSL), North Thurston (6-5, 4-4 Puget Sound League) and Graham-Kapowsin (14-1, 11-0 SPSL).
