The North Thurston girls soccer team bounced back from a tough week last week and battled with Silas in a 1-1 draw at South Sound Stadium Tuesday, Sept. 29.
Following a scoreless first half, Silas struck first on a 25-yard goal. North Thurston freshman Londyn McKenzie got behind the defense off a pass from Kendall Bamer and worked her way around the goalie for the equalizer in the 59th minute.
Goalkeeper Quincie Henderson made a couple of saves in the final 20 minutes to keep Silas from taking the lead. Silas outshot North Thurston 9-4.
“Really hard-fought result against a good Silas team. I’m super proud of the ladies and how they responded after a couple of tough results last week,” North Thurston assistant coach Tristan Glaser said. “We knew that if we put together a more complete performance, we could be in every game.”
Glaser highlighted the defensive play of Elaina Brannon, Bamer, Molly Littauer and Samantha Howard.
North Thurston (2-3-2, 0-2-1 Puget Sound League) will look to earn its first win in over three weeks against Capital (5-3, 2-1 PSL) Thursday, Oct. 1 in Olympia.
