The Thurston County Auditor’s Elections Division has mailed over 10,000 General Election ballots to military and overseas voters registered in Thurston County.
Military and overseas voters who have not received a ballot by Friday, Oct. 9 should contact the Elections Division at 360-786-5408 or elections@co.thurston.wa.us for a replacement ballot.
For voters not in the military or overseas, ballots will be mailed Oct. 8.
Ballots must be postmarked by election day, Nov. 3, or received in a drop box by 8 p.m. on election night.
The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) recommends mailing ballots at least a week before election day to ensure they are postmarked on time.
Under recent USPS postmark rule changes, ballots may not be guaranteed a postmark on the day of collection.
Voters who need to return a ballot by mail close to election day can bring it into a local post office and ask a USPS employee to hand-stamp the postmark on it.
The Thurston County Elections Division encourages voters to utilize a drop box if possible, especially if turning in a ballot within a week of election day.
There are 31 ballot drop boxes located throughout Thurston County. For drop box locations, visit https://tinyurl.com/yfamp9x3.
