A motorcyclist was injured in a collision with an elk on state Route 162 in Pierce County on Monday.
The motorcyclist, identified by the Washington State Patrol as Travis A. Vanderford, 59, of Olympia, was transported to MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup for medical treatment.
He was reportedly travelling westbound on state Route 162 at Patterson Road when he struck an elk and came to rest in a ditch on the right side of the roadway.
The crash was reported at approximately 10:04 p.m. on Monday, June 1.
The roadway was blocked for 40 minutes.
