Mountaineers dominate Warriors in non-league clash

Rainier picked up a dominant non-league win on Tuesday, taking care of Rochester 16-0 in a five-inning victory.

The Mountaineers jumped on top with a three-run first before breaking out for nine in the third and adding on four in the fourth.

Mia Naval and Layla Hill both finished with four hits and scored four runs, and Hill also drove in a pair.

Elaina Henry added three hits and drove in a team-high five runs, while Ryleigh Cruse added a pair of hits and drove in four runs.

Gracie Lantz also picked up a hit and drove in two, and Peyton Tsagris added two hits and picked up two RBIs of her own.

Cruse pitched the first four innings, allowing three hits, and Henry walked one and struck out one in her lone inning of work.

Katie Lay, Josie Nygard, and Ayla LeBaron notched Rochester’s three hits.

Both teams will hit the road on Thursday. Rochester (1-14, 0-7 1A Evergreen) will head to Tenino, while Rainier (7-7, 4-2 C2BL) will face Raymond/South Bend in South Bend.
