Rainier was in control from start to finish on Thursday, when the Mountaineers took down Winlock 19-4 on the road in the final game of the regular season.
The Mountaineers scored four runs in the first and second before adding six in the third to take a 14-0 lead, and they eventually hung another four-spot in the fifth.
Ryleigh Cruse had three hits and finished a home run shy of the cycle, driving in three runs while also scoring five times.
Saylor Briscoe added two hits and drove in two runs, and five other Mountaineers tallied an RBI in the win. Layla Hill added two hits, including a double, and Elaina Henry also notched a double and drove in a run while scoring four times.
All four of Winlock’s runs came in the bottom of the fourth, when Sam Paull hit a bases-clearing triple and Cara Steik followed with an RBI triple of her own. Abby Miller added two hits, including a double, and scored a run.
Winlock finishes its season 1-17 and graduates seven seniors: Hailey Goodrich, Cali Geehan, Mandy Miller, Jasmine Shepherd, Gracie Pierson, Miller, and Grace Tover.
Rainier (10-8) will enter the district tournament as the C2BL’s No. 4 seed, which pins them against Mossyrock, the C2BL’s No. 6 seed, in the first round of the 2B District 4 Tournament.
The winner of that game will face Pe Ell/Willapa Valley, the P2BL’s top seed, in a quarterfinal, while the loser will be eliminated.
The Vikings and Mountaineers will face off on Monday at Fort Borst Park in Centralia.
