Napavine’s bats put on a show to beat Tenino

Five different hitters recorded at least two hits and the Tigers had little problem scoring runs on Tuesday afternoon, upending the Beavers 18-8 in five innings at home in a non-league contest.

Down by three early, Napavine (9-2) scored the majority of its runs with two outs. Paytin Wheeler tied the game with an RBI single and it proved to be the start of a big inning. Tarynn Dalebout and Hayden Kaut each had two-run doubles in the nine-run frame.

The Tigers added four more in the second and put the finishing touches on tying their season-high in runs in a game with five in the fourth. Dalebout and Kaut combined for nine RBIs and four doubles while Hannah Fay plus Wheeler had three hits apiece.

“It was good to get out and play even with a little drizzle,” Napavine head coach Josh Fay said. “I thought our approach at the plate was pretty good.”

Tenino (4-9) nearly kept the game going with three in the fifth, the final two on a double from Jaeleen Woodward. The Beavers committed eight errors defensively and failed to take full advantage of 11 walks. Chloe Grayless also had a double and two RBIs.

Napavine turns its attention back to C2BL play with a Thursday game versus Morton-White Pass. Meanwhile Tenino takes on another 2B program in Forks at home on Friday for a doubleheader.
