Olympia Indivisible and Evergreen Resistance, along with coalition partners, have invited the public to attend a third “No Kings” protest at the state Capitol on March 28.
“No Thrones, No Crowns and No Kings,” a news release from the groups stated.
The Olympia event is one of many similar events happening on March 28 across the country “to serve as a check on the unconstitutional and unaccountable behavior of the federal government,” according to the release.
“What began in 2025 as a single day of defiance has become sustained national resistance to tyranny, spreading from small towns to city centers and across every community determined to defend democracy,” the release stated. “Our peaceful movement is bigger than ever. We expect more of our community to join us at No Kings III.
“Many in Olympia are already engaged and active, and we have had great turnout for the last two No Kings events. We look forward to meeting new people who have reached the point where they feel they need to take action. Many have told us they feel better coming out and seeing that they aren’t alone with their concerns,” the release continued.
The event on Saturday, March 28, will last from noon to 3 and will include a march followed by a rally featuring speakers, music and sign-waving, all in a “nonviolent expression of the power of ‘we the people,’” the release states.
Olympia Indivisible and Evergreen Resistance are organizing the event and working to keep it safe, constructive and engaging, according to the release. Both organizations say they look forward to bringing people together to encourage one another and find ways to stay engaged after the rally.
“Currently, America has a cruel king surrounded by cruel cronies,” Amy Rehwaldt of Evergreen Resistance Olympia stated in the release. “We have planned No Kings 3 to give neighbors the chance to stand together in support of our core values of democracy and human rights. We have invited 25-plus local organizations so that attendees can learn ways to take action after the protest ends and continue to support what is most important to them.”
Here are some options for participating on March 28.
• Join the march to the Capitol: Marchers will line up starting at 11 a.m., then will leave Percival Landing Park (217 Thurston Ave. NE, Olympia) at 11:30 a.m. and end at the Capitol Campus for the start of the rally.
• Join the rally at the Capitol Campus: The rally will feature a program of speakers with ASL interpreters. Throughout the afternoon, there will be music, sign waving, chanting and places to learn about other Olympia organizations and groups.
• Visit Community Organization Tables: The event will include an area by the Tivoli Fountain where multiple community organizations will have tables and offer opportunities to participate in civic actions. This area will include many opportunities to learn about organizations active on a wide variety of causes, the release stated. Some will be fundraising for organizations or others; some will be gathering donations for the food bank; some will encourage letter and postcard writing, whether to detainees or elected officials; some will offer options for one-time or ongoing volunteering or training and education. There will be a sign-making tent and face painting.
