The North Thurston baseball team bludgeoned Lakes 26-3 behind 26 runs in just five innings to win its sixth consecutive game. The Rams used an 11-run first inning to jump out to a massive lead, and they continued their torrid batting with six runs in the second, six in the third and three in the fourth.
Zach Albright finished 4 of 5 at the plate with three RBIs and three runs scored, while Ethan Shaefer was a perfect 3 for 3 with four RBIs, four runs scored, a double and a stolen base. Shaefer also struck out five batters in just two innings, giving up one unearned run on one hit.
“Our effort was great today. We had some big innings early in the game and took really good at bats with guys on base and with two strikes,” North Thurston head coach Joe Meggs said. “Our pitchers stayed focused throughout the game and threw a ton of strikes. As a team, we did a nice job of staying with our game plan.”
North Thurston (10-5, 7-4 Puget Sound League) will face Lakes (1-13, 1-11 PSL) again on Wednesday and will close out the week with a trip to Cheney Stadium for a contest against Silas (10-3, 9-2 PSL).
