The North Thurston girls soccer team couldn’t catch up to Gig Harbor, the top team in the Puget Sound League, in a 5-0 home loss on Thursday, Oct. 15.
North Thurston allowed four goals in the first half but held the Tides to one free kick in the second half. Despite the loss, the Rams coaching staff was impressed with the fight from their young team against one of the most potent teams in Class 3A.
“I was really proud of how hard our ladies worked tonight. This has historically been a miserable game for us to play, but I saw so much fight throughout the match,” North Thurston assistant coach Tristan Glaser said. “I hope the ladies see how much they fought for one another and build off of that as we continue learning and growing.”
Gig Harbor outshot North Thurston 23-3, but Rams goalkeeper Quincie Henderson made several “outstanding” saves in net, Glaser said.
North Thurston (3-6-2, 2-5-1 Puget Sound League) will visit Lakes on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
