Travelers who use the northbound Interstate 5 Scatter Creek safety rest area in Thurston County will want to plan ahead.
From 3 p.m. Monday, April 20, until 3 p.m. Thursday, April 23, the rest area will close to all travelers. The exit to the safety rest area near milepost 91 will also close.
The closure allows Washington state Department of Transportation crews to complete maintenance before the summer travel season. Projects at the rest area this year include restroom fixture repairs, toilet replacement and plumbing repairs. Crews will also paint, pressure wash, landscape and clear drains.
Crews completed similar work at the nearby southbound I-5 Maytown safety rest area in March.
