The Northwest Christian volleyball team raced past Raymond-South Bend in a sweep (26-24, 25-12, 25-16) Tuesday night, getting stronger as the game went on for the second night in a row.
One night after falling in the first set against Shoreline Christian, the Wolverines also slugged their way through the first set against RSB. This time, they triumphed 26-24 and continued their dominance with a 25-12 throttling in the second set. Northwest Christian handled the Ravens in the third and final set 25-16 to finish off the sweep. The Wolverines finished with 14 aces and a 92% serve completion percentage one night after putting up 16 aces.
Addy Hentges logged 10 kills, three aces and two digs, while Ashlynn Hutchings tallied six kills, three aces and 15 digs. Freshman setter Jess Collins posted a double-double with 25 assists and 10 digs.
“Raymond-South Bend is another very scrappy team,” Northwest Christian co-head coach Sarah Barnard said. “Our goal tonight was to work together and stay locked in. We had a slow start in the first set but fought hard in the end and kept the pace even throughout the rest of the match.”
Northwest Christian (2-0) will host Rainier Thursday night to finish off the first week of the regular season.
