In a game that saw 37 combined runs, 10 combined errors, 35 combined walks, only one extra-base hit and a seven-run comeback in just the third inning, Northwest Christian rocked Darrington 25-12 in its highest scoring output since May 4, 2023.

Northwest Christian scored three runs with two outs to strike first in the top of the first inning before Darrington ripped off 10 runs in the bottom half of the frame, all coming before the Wolverines could get the second out.

The Wolverines’ bats heated up in the second inning. Jadon Dillingham and Myles McLain each scored two on singles, and a bases-loaded walk put the finishing touches on a six-run frame to crawl to within one run at 10-9.

McLain, who relieved starter Parker Cox in the first inning, pitched a clean inning in the second, and Northwest Christian tied the game on Cox’s RBI single in the top of the third. Marshall Guyer provided the go-ahead run with an RBI single of his own, and the onslaught continued . In total, the Wolverines had 15 plate appearances in the frame, including 10 who reached base consecutively, as they took a 18-10 lead through three. Northwest Christian added one run in the fourth, one in the fifth and five in the sixth.

“That first inning was rough for sure. I was proud of the way they kept battling and continuing to put pressure on them,” Northwest Christian head coach Jordan Potis said. “The at bats were really good, and we were able to settle down after that first inning.”

Dillingham finished with five RBIs and three stolen bases on a 2-for-5 day at the plate. McLain added four RBIs with his two hits, and Guyer collected three RBIs and three hits while striking out nine batters in three hitless innings of work out of the bullpen. The Wolverines walked 19 times, with Jack Vahey leading the way with five walks and Spence Coleman seeing ball four on four occasions.

Northwest Christian (6-3. 2-3 Sea-Tac League) will take on Quilcene (4-2, 2-0 Sea-Tac League) for a two-game series next week, starting at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey on Wednesday, April 22.
