O Bee Credit Union has announced it is donating $10,000 to local food banks to support neighbors in need.

This contribution aims to help bridge the gap caused by recent delays in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, ensuring that members of the community don’t go hungry during this critical time, according to a news release from O Bee Credit Union.

“Our mission goes beyond serving our members. It’s about strengthening the communities we all call home,” Andrew Downin, president and CEO of O Bee Credit Union, said. “When we saw this urgent need for food assistance, we knew we had to step in and help.”

The funds will support the Thurston County Food Bank and Nourish Pierce County, which are seeing an increased demand for assistance as many households face gaps in their grocery budgets, according to the release.

“O Bee Credit Union can always be counted on to help,” Martha Prestin, chief financial officer for O Bee, said. “We’re proud to stand with our community and do our part to make sure no one goes without.”
