Olympia no-hits Spanaway Lake, puts up 30 in shutout

The Olympia baseball team earned a resounding victory against Spanaway Lake Tuesday, tossing a combined no-hitter in a 30-0 win to open South Puget Sound League action.

Aiden Apfel, DJ Johnson and Eli Downing gave up just one base runner in five combined innings on the mound.

Olympia’s offensive explosion was highlighted by a 21-run third inning that saw five hit batters, nine hits, seven walks and two errors. Brayden Cheeka hit a grand slam to left field in the midst of the scoring avalanche, and he finished 3 of 3 with seven runs batted in and two runs scored. Elijah Butler also cranked a home run and recorded four RBIs to go with his two hits. 

Fourteen different Bears tallied at least one RBI, and 16 different Bears scored at least once.

Olympia (5-0, 1-0 South Puget Sound League) will face Spanaway Lake again at home Wednesday night.
