Olympia Police Department Weekly Update: April 16 to April 22

The Olympia Police Department responded to a total of 1,106 calls for service this week. 

The department remarked upon the following notable trends:

  • Two aggravated assaults reported with arrests in both cases. In one case, the suspect punched the victim multiple times in the head, requiring stitches for the victim. In the other case, the suspect knocked the victim down and then kicked them in the head, causing the victim to lose consciousness.
  • Three auto thefts reported with two recovered and one attempt only. Two were Kias and the third was a 2023 Buick Envision where the victim left their keys in the car.
  • Two residential burglaries reported. Officers arrested a suspect in one case that was a violation of a no contact order. In the other burglary, a bike was stolen from a secure apartment building.
  • One robbery reported where the suspect punched a loss prevention employee trying to stop the suspect from shoplifting.
  • Ten vehicle prowls or vandalisms reported this week. Multiple vehicles had large dollar amounts of property stolen from them, including tools, binoculars, a tablet, clothing, a wallet and a firearm.

The Olympia Police Department also reminds the public to be mindful of events going on downtown this weekend as part of the Spring Arts Walk and Procession of the Species. 

“If driving, please be patient, obey road closed signs and follow instructions from officers and volunteers doing traffic control,” the department stated. “Thanks for helping make it a great event!

The department also recognized National Volunteer Appreciation Week by thanking its department volunteers, who worked over 2,300 hours in 2025.
