Olympia Police Department Weekly Update: May 21 to May 27

The Olympia Police Department responded to a total of 1,135 calls for service this week. 

The department remarked upon the following notable trends:

  • One arson was reported. Camera footage shows someone around the car right before it lit on fire. 
  • Two auto thefts with one still an open investigation. A 2004 Ford Explorer was stolen in the other case.  
  • One rape was reported that is still an open investigation. The victim knows the suspect. 
  • Officers arrested the suspect in one of the two robberies reported this week. In the first robbery, the suspect pushed an employee trying to stop him from stealing alcohol. In the arrest, the suspect punched and threatened the victim over a money dispute and stole her purse. Witnesses helped locate the suspect. 
  • Two residential burglaries were reported, with one still an open investigation. Officers arrested the suspect in the other case after she forced her way into the victim’s home and punched him multiple times. The suspect was a family member. 
  • Six commercial burglaries were reported, with one still an open investigation and one arrest. In one case, a storage building door was found open. Nothing was taken or damaged. In another case the suspect broke the door frame to a shed and then broke door handles to the basement. • Two cases were of storage units. In the arrest, the suspect used a softball to break a door window for entry. He was located inside and nothing was stolen.
