Posted

The Olympia Police Department responded to a total of 1,148 calls for service this week.

The department remarked upon the following notable trends:

  • Officers arrested suspects in two of the three aggravated assaults and charges were referred to the prosecutor in the third case. In one arrest, the suspect strangled the victim multiple times during an argument. In the other arrest, the suspect threatened multiple people with a knife. No one was injured. In the last case, the suspect in a vehicle pointed a gun at the victim during an interaction. The suspect was found later but the gun was not located during a search of the vehicle.
  • One auto theft reported. A 2006 Honda Pilot was stolen.
  • Two sexual assaults reported. In one case, the victim knows the suspect. In the other case, the victim does not know the suspect.
  • Three catalytic converters were stolen this week. Olympia Police have seen a slight uptick in catalytic converter thefts compared to the first part of 2025. The department reminds the community to report any suspicious behavior around vehicles, especially combined with a sawing noise.
  • Nine vehicle prowls reported. Some of the property stolen included photography equipment, fishing gear and supplies, camping gear, tools, glasses and a wallet. One was an attempted auto theft where the suspect broke a window to a 2012 Kia Forte and damaged the steering column.
